Recently I applied for a consultancy job with a private company.
Part of the requirements of the application was passing drug tests.
Compulsory drug-testing of job applicants is an invasion of your civil liberties.
It is barely reasonable enough for an employee to pass drug test on safety or performance related issues, but for a potential private employer to request these type of draconian measures for any employment candidate is unconstitutional.
The need for a state or federal agency to obtain a warrant before doing such a drug test shows the concern and constitutional protection that the founding fathers provided for an individuals privacy in regards for invasive and intimate evidence gathering.
The need for corporations and private companies to request that potential employees to pass a drug test is always inferior to a persons basic rights as guaranteed by the Constitution.
Unfortunately the only way most job applicants can avoid these tests is by refusal and subsequent disqualification from the job selection process.
In these difficult economic times most people cannot afford this luxury. The only alternative is the use of legal and effective masking agents. These masking and detoxification products inhibit the testing labs ability to return a positive result thereby protecting the basic right of an individual to not incriminate themselves. Even if an individual does not use recreational drugs (which I don’t), there is still the possibility of the drug test returning a false positive therefore forever tarnishing the tested persons reputation. The most effective way to ensure the return of a negative result is the use of an effective masking agent. The ability to pass a drug test is almost a necessity in these hard economic times with the Draconian policies of most companies now being so tough.
I personally find the whole process of erosion of basic civil liberties is the first step towards corporate fascism. What is next? Compulsory genetic profiling!
